| 8th March 2002 | Boys v's Dads Night Tonight we held our 3rd annual boys vs. dads night. We had a fun night including an information scavenger hunt, and Orkney quiz and the usual newspaper activity. This year we challenged teams of boys & dads to construct a fancy dress costume out of a single newspaper (and some sellotape). The results were very interesting. Examples included a skeleton, a clown and a gladiator. It's a shame no-one had a camera handy - or maybe not ! We finished off with a game of Pictionary and some tea & coffee. The scores at the end of the night meant the dads won taking them into a 2:1 lead overall. Better luck next year lads.

| 10-12th August 2001 | Summer Camp This years camp was at the Guide Association campsite at Ladenford Den, near Forfar. We decided on a weekend canvas camp for a change this year. There were 9 boys & 3 staff who travelled the 60 miles to the campsite in, at times torrential rain. Fortunately there were clear skies above Forfar and the tents were pitched in the dry. It was a late night for some with the usual chattering until the early hours.
The good weather deserted us on Saturday but the cover of the trees gave the boys some help while cooking their breakfasts outside and during the shelter building competition. Sadly neither shelter was really waterproof as 2 large pots of water showed :-) It was still raining after lunch and the 'Police Report' ( a game involving having to describe team members), we headed off for the Olympia swimming pool in the afternoon. Pizza for tea and a late 'BBQ' on the brazier to toast marshmallows. The wide games in the dark proved a good laugh too except for the cheating going on with torches and it all came to a premature end with an ankle injury when someone's foot became stuck in an unseen rabbit hole.
Sunday brought improved weather and we were able to have a stretcher race and a kick about with some footballs. The tents came down dry and we were able to clean & tidy up everything without getting wet. So a good weekend was had by all - even the chattering at 2am on Saturday morning seemed to have been forgotten and we headed home tired but happy.

| 22nd June 2001 | Abselling Our annual session at the Souter Head cliff near Cove. This year the weather held and we had a dry night. There were 7 boys who took part and because of the numbers some were able to climb back up the pitch after dropping down.

- 2nd Jnr shot

During the 3 hours parents and friends were treated to a display of drill, 'kids capers', horse & bars routines and this year we performed our now famous BB Shadowvision - this is a mock surgical operation done entirley in shadow.. The evening finished off with the usual prize giving. The hightlight being the presentation of the first Queens Man for a long time. We were delighted to welcome back Mr Alex Forbes, one the the 44th's first Queens Men to present Cpl. Alex Bertram with his Queens Badge & certificate. After many stayed on for tea & coffee and a chance to relax after a busy but enjoyable night. Read the 'net' version of the Captain's Report as given on the night.

| 2nd March 2001 | Dark Theme Night Tonight we had a very sucessful 'Dark Theme' night. All games involved paying in the dark or by torchlight. There was a tuck shop treasure hunt in the dark, torchlight football, chalk circles and 'The Shoe Bundle'. This was great, although smelly, fun. All the boys trainers were put in a big pile in the middle of the hall and the lights swiched off. The winner was the first to get both of his own trainers back on. Someone did manage surprisingly.
